We greet you in the all-prevailing name of the Lord Jesus Christ rejoicing in His goodness and faithfulness.
Today we celebrate Ascension Day, another strategic day in the ministry of Jesus. Just a few thoughts about this important day (John 17:4):
- The graduation day of the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ.
- The induction of the Church of Jesus Christ on earth
- The gift of Christ to the Church, the Holy Spirit
- The guarantee of a glorious future
These are just a few implications of the Ascension of Christ.
Cecil’s contract as interim Pastor at Trinity Baptist Church was due to expire at the end of June but, as the church has not been able to secure the services of another pastor as yet, his contract has been extended to the end of December, unless a new pastor has been appointed in that time. We are grateful for this opportunity to continue ministering in this church.
Over the past three weeks we have lost four friends. Although brothers in the ministry they were also personal friends: Oscar Ehrensperger (iterant music evangelist), David Waterson, Ron Wesson and Joe Bell. Cecil flew to Durban, KZN to conduct the memorial service of Ron Wesson yesterday. They were at school together and at seminary and Ron was often a member of teams Cecil took to Brazil and New Zealand.
Their passing has been painful but we thank the Lord for their committed lives. However, we do not sorrow as others do “who have no hope”.
