Dear ,
Have you ever felt depressed, confused or spiritually numb? I think that we all have been in that place. Perhaps some are still there in ‘no man’s land’. Our friends in the USA, especially, must be struggling to understand what is happening in their nation.
Well, we are not alone in these battles. In 1 Kings 19 we find the Prophet Elijah, following the great victory at Mt Carmel (Chapter 18), sitting under a tree, praying to die. Why was he in such a state of depression? Following the triumph at Mt Carmel and the heavy rain that fell (a sign of God’s blessing), he could not believe that God could allow Queen Jezebel to kill him, as she had threatened. Had not God honoured him in his confrontation with the Prophets of Baal (Chapter 17)? Where was God now? Why had he not delivered him? Many people are asking the same questions today.
Although there is no clear answer, there is one thing that God was about to do that Elijah had no idea of. God’s timetable had moved on and the time of Elijah’s rapture was near. God had his plan for Elijah then as he has now for the US and all of us. A thought to ponder!
We must remember to live as the ‘Alternative Society’ in these days of crises. We have that “blessed hope” that is steadfast and sure.
Many thanks for your prayers and support. God bless you abundantly for your faithfulness.
With sincere greetings,
Cecil & Jeanette
PS. Here is a verse I read this week in a daily devotional book, written by a friend, while I was feeling the pressure of pastoral work. “Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy.” Jeremiah 31:16. NKJV. Maybe this verse is also for you today, too.
